Supporting animal athletes
Protect your animals from Injury
The more finely integrated and finely tuned the fibres of the body are the less likely your animal risks interruption to their working or sporting career through strain and injury.
Treatments help to fine tune the body in both form and function, helping reduce over-effort, strain and fatigue that can lead to tissue damage and thus protecting your animals working and sporting careers.
Achieve peak training levels
Know what your animals training level is actually doing to their body. Know when training is too harsh causing strain and vulnerability to injury. Know when you can go that bit further without risk of ruining your animals training goals.
Being able to read the subtle qualities developing in the fascia and soft tissues of the body Jen can support you to attain your animals optimal training plan. Avoid that frustrating and unproductive injury or fatigue hampered stop start training. Getting your animal to that all important job or event, confident, ready, and raring to go.
Resolving sports injuries
Sports injuries obtained through poor training can be resolved by addressing the imbalances in the training program. Soft tissue assessment in treatment perfectly informs where the training plan is going amiss, and support to address these imbalances are given allowing you to put your animals efforts to best use.
Even with the best regulated training plans and fitness accidents can happen. Severe changes in direction, falls, impact injuries from equipment or other animals can lead to strains, sprains, micro tears, breaks and surgical intervention. Treatment with Jen can help your animals body tissues back to optimum function and health supporting your animal safely back into activity.
Animal athlete reviews
Lure Coursing Whippet
“Jen's amazing ability was key to bringing my severely injured lure coursing whippet back to full fitness, and back to her winning ways! Jen is not only knowledgeable but patient, honest and empathetic, especially when dealing with a worried dog owner.”
KB - Cotswolds
Events Horse
“Bowen treatment has made all the difference. Summer had struggled with tendon issues, was out of action and was at the end of 18 months extensive veterinary care, but nothing improving. Jen came to see Summer, observed how she moved, treated her with Bowen and advised how to go forward with exercise and training. Summer had six Bowen treatments and regulated training to get her back riding again. A miracle, so happy to have her back. ”

Polo Ponies
“Jen has regularly treated my horses through the polo season for a few years now, and they have never ridden better. ‘Magic Hands’!”

Polo Horse / mid polo season maintenance
Jets gate was smooth and even but her mid thoracic into her withers look locked solid, no motion transferring through this area.
The swelling over Jets sacral area, was quite pronounced, filled with fluid, no heat, no tenderness. Bowen fascial releases were done to improve tissue function and hence fluid dispersal in this area. Pelvis was also structurally balanced to support this. Jets low thoracic was twisted at first but this released quite easily, and her withers were locked and base of her neck stiff. The locking in her withers had been around for more than a few months, maybe been building for a few years, yet already showing an easing of some of these muscles in first treatment. This was Jets first Bowen treatment.
Muscle groups cranial of scapula are brittle and rigid, the ones between scapula and spine are divided (for strength and ease of function you want them to be pliable, smooth and indivisible), caudal of scapula muscle groups again were divided, and a little sore, swelling within muscle fibres.
Jet was given two treatments in all as a mid season fine tuning to improve her performance ability.

Polo Horse / mid polo season check
Ceci’s owner and groom both reported difficulty turning her to the right, fine turning her left.
Biomechanical observation showed Ceci was stiff in her low back as she walked, otherwise her gate was clean and even.
Ceci presented with adhered muscles tissues in her left thoracic and lumbar top line.
Low back muscles were swollen and not aligned smoothly. She had a little weakness in some shoulder muscle bundles and stiffness in the dorsal aspect of her neck. There was a huge click from her neck as the muscles were aligning it from the Bowen releases already done. She was happy with this.
In the cranial aspect of her front left leg between short and long pastern bones the tissues were weak and over saturated with fluid “soggy”. Otherwise all legs, including the suspensory tendons, appeared uninjured with good tissue quality and tone.
Owner and groom both reported how greatly improved Ceci’s ride was after this one treatment.
Working alongside veterinary care
What if your animal is already receiving treatment from your vet or other health professional? No worries! treatments can work alongside orthodox medicine, and can form a constructive part of a collaborative treatment care package with trainers and other health care professionals.
Treatments are not intended to replace your animals’ primary care health provider, and as a matter of professionalism, and law, permission from your veterinary surgeon is required prior to commencement of any alternative complementary treatment. This is not a referral, but simply permission for a non veterinarian to provide health care for your animal.
